Our target

Roofers Hotline aims to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA on every page, so that a homeowner using a screen reader, a keyboard, a magnifier or a phone with large text can read what their roof has been through and reach the number.

What is in place

Every text pairing on the site has a contrast ratio of at least 4.5 to 1, and large headings at least 3 to 1. Every link, button and form control works from the keyboard, with a visible focus outline and a skip link to the main content. Pages use landmarks, one H1 and headings in order. The phone number is a link that opens the dialer on a phone and reads as a number to a screen reader. Data tiles, storm charts and the county map carry text alternatives, and every number shown by color is also shown as text, so nothing depends on color alone. Text resizes to 200 percent without loss, there is no autoplay, and animations respect the reduced-motion setting.

Known limits

The quote form on get quotes is hosted by an outside form service; we test it with a keyboard and a screen reader, but if it does not work with your assistive technology, call the number instead and the request is taken by phone. The county map is a graphic with a text caption rather than an interactive map. Older blog images may carry short alternative text.

Tell us

If a page is hard to use, email hello@roofershotline.com with the page address, what you were trying to do, what happened, and the browser or assistive technology you were using. You can also call the number at the top of the page. Accessibility reports are read by a person and answered with what was changed, and fixes go into the next build of the site.
