Who is responsible
Roofers Hotline is responsible for every page on roofershotline.com. Pages on Roofers Hotline are built from public datasets (NOAA, FEMA, U.S. Census, state licensing boards) with our own software and reviewed by our team before they go live. Guides, blog posts and FAQ pages carry the Roofers Hotline byline, with the publication and update dates shown on the page. No text on any page was written by a roofing contractor, and no contractor sees a page before it is published.
How a page is made
Each local page starts from the public records for its place: NOAA Storm Events (since 2015, 2026 to date included) and SPC hail reports (2000 to 2024) for storms, the FEMA National Risk Index and OpenFEMA disaster declarations for hazard ratings, the U.S. Census American Community Survey 2019 to 2023 for housing age and tenure, NCEI 1991 to 2020 climate normals for freezing days, snow and heat, Census County Business Patterns 2022 for the number of roofing businesses, EIA RECS 2020 for roof materials, and the state licensing board for the licensing rule and lookup link. Our software joins those records to the place and fills the tables, the key takeaways and the data sentences. Short explanatory passages are drafted with AI assistance (a large language model) from the same facts. Every number in a passage must exist in the page's source data, and a passage with a banned claim or AI filler phrasing is rejected the same way. A person on the Roofers Hotline team reads a sample of every batch of pages before publication and reviews any page reported as wrong, and pages that fail the checks stay out of the search index until they are fixed.
Update cadence
Storm and hazard data are refreshed weekly and the "Updated" month on each page follows the data. Cost ranges are refreshed once a year against the national cost model and labeled with their year. State licensing rules and lookup links are re-verified quarterly. A page's updated date changes only when its content changes, never to make it look fresh.
Corrections
Report an error to hello@roofershotline.com with the page address and what is wrong. Corrections are made at the next build, and a correction that changes a fact updates the page's date. Reports about a contractor's conduct go through the contact page instead.
What we do not do
We publish no reviews, no ratings and no endorsements, because we did not collect any. We display no license numbers and make no claim that any contractor holds a license, insurance or a certification; Roofers Hotline does not verify contractor licenses, and the state lookup is linked on every location page so you can. We do not describe any contractor's work as our own, we do not invent numbers, and prices on this site are ranges from the national cost model, labeled as such.
